Too many foreign companies interested in buying products in China find the Chinese co-op selling web sites and try to browse through the thousands and thousands of brief and pithy descriptions, which provide too little information to make an informed and solid decision. What is needed is clear and hard information on specific products.

Many of these Chinese companies function just like the vendors in the local food markets. "What are you looking for?" No matter what your answer is, they have it. All you see is carrot at their stall, but if you say onions, "Oh, I can get you onions. How many do you want?" Everybody knows everybody, and this guy's brother's wife's grandfather's dog's cousin's master has exactly what you want. That does not exactly instill confidence; all you want is to be pointed toward the stall that sells onions.

We want somebody who just sells silk and knows how to produce great quality at an efficient quantity, not somebody who can also sell you silk in addition to the ten other completely unrelated products in their line. These co-op sites are stocked full of companies that give brief and unclear explanation of their products. Why? Because they have that "I sell carrots, but I can find you onions" view of business.
