Same story, different product. Tung oil is another of the many resources found in rural China which still has much room for development.
Few of the inland tung oil producing companies are exporting in any significant amounts. Even the non-rural, city tung oil companies tend to export via co-ops or middle men. They have an excellent product, but do not have the communication skills to sell their product outside of China without help.
Even these regional cities—not the mega cities like Guangzhou or Shanghai, but "important cities" at a provincial level—in the inner provinces of China have high quality tung oil. In fact, much of the tung oil sold from the bigger companies actually originates at these regional centers. The product is the same; only the price differs.
At best, these companies will have a web page or two advertising their product, maybe even with some relatively clear specifications on the product. The information is not simple because the product is not nice or they are not professional. They know their product, but just cannot communicate those things clearly in English.
The exporting is not the problem. Having a buyer is. Even if the buyer could find the producers, making the deal is a tedious process with language, geographic, and cultural barriers. Sure, these problem all have solutions, but the most simple solution is often the most profitable sale and money saving buy.
